- Milano Centrale to Como San Giovanni: regional train about 40 minutes, from EUR 5.20, roughly
  hourly 6:43 AM to 9:43 PM (Trenord). EuroCity trains to Switzerland stop at Como San Giovanni
  in about 36 minutes (more expensive). Como San Giovanni is ~15 minutes' walk above the lake.
- Milano Cadorna to Como Lago (lakefront station): Trenord, about 60 minutes, from EUR 5.40, hourly.
  The S11 from Milano Porta Garibaldi also reaches Como San Giovanni in about an hour.

- There is no high-speed train from Milan to Como; the fastest are EuroCity (~36 min) and
  regional trains (~40 min). Frecciarossa does not stop at Como.
- You cannot take a train to Bellagio. Take the train to Varenna-Esino and a 15-20 min ferry.
- The slow boat from Como to Bellagio takes about 2 hours; the hydrofoil 45-60 minutes.
- Regional train tickets do not need to be booked in advance and carry no seat reservation.
- Several guided day trips use public ferries for their 'cruise'; the premium buys pre-booked
